Where are you from and why did you decide to move to Spain?
I am from Belgium (French speaking part)
I had finished my studies, but I did not want to start working in my country, I wanted a new life. I was watching traveling videos on YouTube when I saw one titled “Living in Malaga”. I still cannot explain but it was love at first sight.
For unknown reason I decided to move here. I still do not regret any of this!
When did you move & where in Spain did you settle? Did you move on your own or as a family?
I moved to Malaga in early September 2022 on my own.
Did you use professional help for the immigration procedures (visas, permits, any admin paperwork) and/or any relocation services (property search, schools, etc)?
Of course, I knew moving to Spain was not easy due to many documents that are required, that is why I decided to ask the help of a pro. I first met Irina from Malaga Expat Consulting by making a video call with her, she wanted to know more about me and my reasons before starting to work with me.
Thanks to her my relocation in Malaga was so smooth concerning all the paperwork. I could trust her without any doubt, the only thing I had to do was to give her the information that she needed so she could take all off my appointments on my behalf, she would then tell me where and at what time I needed to go so I could get it.
How difficult was it to find your first home and do you still live in the same place? If you moved – tell us why
I mostly looked on Idealista and I could find within 2 weeks my shared flat. Now I am leaving with my boyfriend in a bigger flat.
What is your occupation in Spain – tell us a few words. Has it changed compared to what you did in your home country?
I am working in a restaurant that I consider like a second family. I found this job in my second week of arriving to Malaga.
How integrated do you feel into the local community and lifestyle?
I feel more at home here than in my own country!
The lifestyle corresponds me 100%, I love how everyone is welcoming. I don’t feel like a complete stranger at all
Do you have any regrets about your move to Spain and/or miss anything from your home country? If yes – tell us what
None, except from my family that I miss a lot
What was the main advantage and the main challenge you experienced with moving to Spain?
First time moving and living on my own both are an advantage and a challenge at the same time.
Any advice you would like to give to those considering or in the process of moving to Spain?
Be wise and make your life so much easier by asking the help of a professional or a relocation service. You will be able to start enjoying your new lifestyle in no time!
